RIRI RIZA
Riri Riza's graduation short, "Sonata Kampung Bata,"
won third prize in Oberhausen 1994. Now, ten years, several feature-lengths,
and many awards later, he's working on his new feature-length "Gie"
(due early 2005), inspired by the life of Indonesian political activist/writer
Soe Hok Gie. Riri used to be a drummer during his schooldays, from
which we suspect he got his wonderful sense of pacing.
